Switch Zoo - Make New Animals - Online and App
Visitors to this unique zoo make their own new creatures by switching the animals' heads, legs and tails. While students play, they can read facts about each of the animals that comprise their new beast. Visit our lesson plans page for classroom ideas.
Your students can learn more about the animals in Switch Zoo by reading their Profiles, and learn how to make new animals in Switch Zoo by taking the Guided Tour. It's a hands-on, step-by-step guide so you will make animals while you learn!
Switch Zoo App
For iPad, Android, PC and Mac
The Switch Zoo app has images that are nearly 80% larger than Switch Zoo Online, and additional features including the Randomizer and My Switcheroos, where students can save their animals and stories. Free and paid versions available. Switch Zoo Free features one habitat with 28 animals, and Switch Zoo has nine habitats with 142 animals.
Build an Online Habitat
Students match animals to the environment best suited for their survival. A compatibility meter and a thermometer help evaluate the environment.
Build a Biome
The newest game at Switch Zoo lets your students build six of world's biomes by choosing the right plants, animal, temperature range and precipitation. Each biome begins with a map and description to introduce students to the biome they're about to build: Arctic Tundra, Taiga, Deciduous Forest, Grass Savanna, Tropical Rainforest, or Arid Desert. Students win a postcard for each biome they build, and earn the title Biome Master if they build all six biomes.
Feeding Time at Switch Zoo
Your students will have fun learning about carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and scavengers with three games based on animals' diets.
Where Do I Live?
This animal geography game will challenge your students' knowledge as they move the animals to their natural homes. Students can use the Animal Homing Device to see the answer for animals they can't locate.
